Rizin Tablet

Indication:

Rizin is indicated for the prevention and symptomatic relief of allergic manifestations, such as: - Allergic rhino-Conjunctivites - Hayfever-Psoriasis - Allergic-induced asthma - Seasonal allergic rhinitis - Perennial allergic rhinitis-Chronic idiopathic urticaria

Dosage & Administration:

OSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Rizin is administered with or without food. Adults and Children 6 years and older: Rizin Tablet: Adults Children over 6 Year : 1 Tablet once daily or half tablet twice daily. Rizin Syrup: 10 ml (2 teaspoons full) once daily or 5 ml (1 teaspoon full) twice daily. In patients with decreased renal function (Creatinine clearance 11-31 ml/min), patients on hemodialysis (Creatinine clearance less than 7 ml/min) and in hepatically impaired patients, a dose of 1/2 tablet or 5 ml (1 teaspoon full) once daily is recommended. Children 2-6 years: Rizin Syrup: 5 ml (1 teaspoonfull) once daily or 2.5 ml (half teaspoon full) twice daily. Children 6 months to less than two years: Rizin Syrup: 2.5 ml (half teaspoon full) once daily. The dose in children 12-23 months of age can be increased to a maximum dose as 2.5 ml (half teaspoon full) every 12 hours. DOSAGE IN RENAL AND HEPATIC IMPAIRMENT: Dosing adjustment is necessary in patients with moderate or severe renal impairment, hepatic impairment and patients on dialysis. Contraindication: Cetirizine is contraindicated in patients who have shown hypersensitivity or idyosyncrasy to it or its parent compound-Hydroxyzine. Side Effects: Cetirizine is well tolerated and associated with fever, adverse effects which include headache, dizziness, dry mouth agitation & gastrointestinal upset. Precautions • Neonates: The drug is not usally administered to neonates. • Children: Cetirizine is effective & well tolerated in children over 6 years of age. • Lactating mother: The extent of Cetirizine excretion in human breast milk is unknown but some animal studies have shown excretion in breast milk. Nursing mothers are advised not to be taken this medication. • Pregnant women: Cetirizine is not teratogenic in animals. Since the animal studies are not always predictive of human response, it should be used only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. • Patients are advised not to exceed the recommanded dose when driving car or operating machinary. Drug Interaction: There are no reports of hazardous interactions with other drugs to date. Concomitant administration with alcohol or diazepam does not impair psychomotor performance any more than the impairment of performance produced by alcohol alone.
