Indication:
Fusidin B cream is indicated in inflammatory dermatoses
where bacterial infection is present or likely to occur,
inflammatory dermatoses include atopic eczema, discoid
eczema, stasis eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis, contact
dermatitis, psoriasis and discoid lupus erythematosus.
Dosage & Administration:
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Uncovered lesions: 2-3 times daily application
Covered lesions: Less frequent application may be
adequate.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Topical corticosteroids are contraindicated in viral,
tuberculous and fungal skin infections, perioral dermatitis,
acne rosacea and ulcerative condition. Also
Contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to any
component.
PRECAUTIONS
Long-term continuous therapy should be avoided,
particularly in the face, on flexures and intertrigenous
areas, and in infants and children. Caution should be
exercised if a topical steroid is used near the eye.
Glaucoma might be the result if the preparation enters the
eye.
SIDE EFFECT
With other topical corticosteroids, prolonged and intensive
treatment may cause local atrophic changes of the skin,
such as striae, thinning and dilatation of the superficial
blood vessels, particularly when occlusive dressing is used
or when skin folds are involved. Systemic absorption,
sufficient to produce hypercorticism/ adrenal suppression,
can occur with prolonged or extensive use, Infants and
children are particularly at risk.
USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Topical steroids should not be extensively used in
pregnancy. As Fusidic Acid has been detected in the breast
milk, so nursing mothers are advised to use the drug only if
clearly needed.
