Cero Eye Ointment

Indication:

Cero sterile eye drops and eye ointment is highly effective in the treatment of corneal ulcers and conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms. It is also indicated in the treatment of keratitis, kerato conjunctivitis, blepharitis, blepharo-conjunctivitis, acute meibomianitis, dacryocystitis, and prophylaxis & prevention of ocular infections after removal of a corneal or physical agent or before and after ocular surgery.

Dosage & Administration:

Eye drops: For bacterial corneal ulcer (Adults and children 1 year of age and older): On the first day, instill 1 drop in the affected eye (s) every 15 minutes for the first 6 hours and then 1 drop into the affected eye (s) every 30 minutes for the remainder of the day. On the second day, instill 1 drop in the affected eye (s) hourly. On the third through the fourteenth day, instill 1 drop in the affected eye (s) every four hours. If the patients needed to be treated for more than 14 days, physician should be continued a maximum duration of 21 days is recommended. For bacterial conjunctivitis (Adults and children 1 year of age and older): Use 1 drop in each eye every two hours, while you are awake, for two days. Then use 1 drop in each eye every four hours, while you are awake, for the next five days. If you think you did not get the drop of medicine into your eyes properly, use another drop. Infants and children up to 1 year of age: Use and dose must be determined by your doctor. Superficial ocular infection/conjunctivitis: The usual dose is 1 or 2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (s) every 2 hours while awake for two days and 1 or 2 drops every 4 hours while awake for the next 5 days. Ophthalmic ointment dosage form: For bacterial conjunctivitis: Adults and children 2 years of age and older: use a half inch strip of eye ointment in each eye three times a day for the first two days, then use a half inch strip of eye ointment in each eye two times a day for the next five days. Infants and children up to 2 years of age: Use and dose must be determined by your doctor. For eye ointment: A thin film of Cero eye ointment should evenly be applied either directly to the affected part or inside the lower conjunctival sac at night or 3-4 times daily depending on the severity of the condition (if eye ointment used alone). Ear drops: For all infections, 2-3 drops every 2 - 3 hours initially, reducing the frequency of the instillation with control of infection. Treatment should be continued at least 7 days. SIDE EFFECTS: Local burning or discomfort, itching, foreign body sensation, crystalline precipitates, lid margin crusting, conjunctival hyperemia and a bad taste following administration. Photophobia and nausea may be reported. WARNING & PRECAUTION: Prolonged use of Ciprofloxacin may result in overgrowth of non- susceptible organisms including fungi. Ciprofloxacin should be discontinued at the first appearance of any other sign of hypersensitivity reaction. Not for injection into the eye. CONTRAINDICATIONS: A history of hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or any other component of the medication is a contraindication to its use. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Specific drug interaction studies have not been observed with ophthalmic Ciprofloxacin. USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION: Do not use unless the potential benefits outweigh the potential risk during pregnancy. Caution should be exercised in the nursing mothers.
