Indication:
Zemycin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains of the following microorganisms: - Chlamydia trachomatis - Haemophilus influenzae - Moraxella catarrhalis - Neisseria gonorrhoeae - Streptococcus pneumoniae - Streptococcus pyogenes - Streptococcus viridans (Group A beta-hemolytic) - Bordetella pertussis
Dosage & Administration:
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION: Adult: The recommended dose of Zemycin (Azithromycin) is 1 tablet once daily by mouth with or after food. Children: There is no clinical data on the use of Azithromycin in children. CONTRAINDICATION: Zemycin (Azithromycin) is contraindicated in patients previously hypersensitive to any other macrolide antibiotics or to any patients of the products. SIDE EFFECTS: Zemycin (Azithromycin) has a good tolerability profile. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, vertigo, constipation, vomiting and dermatits. PRECAUTIONS: Patients with a history of coagulation, liver dysfunction, peptic ulcer, crohn's disease, porphyria should use this drug with care. USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATIONS: The drug is not recommended for use in pregnancy and lactation unless considered by the physician. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Lithium, Digoxin & Methotrexate: Azithromycin may increase plasma concentration of Lithium, Digoxin & Methotrexate. Diuretics & Anticoagulants: Azithromycin may inhibit the activity of Diuretics & Anticoagulation. Hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia may result from the concomitant administration of Azithromycin and Antidiabetic drugs, although it is rare. OVER DOSAGE: There are no data available on the consequences of Azithromycin over dosage. The symptoms may be nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness & headache. After overdose following therapeutic measures to be taken, absorption should be prevented as soon as posible by means of gastric lavage and treatment with activated charcoal. Supportive and symptomatic treatment should be given.
